A very lucky pup . . .
My dear friend, Jonna . . . had to say goodbye to her long-time pup companion, Hudson.
If you've had a fur-kid . .. if you've ever loved a dog . . . you know her pain. This is one of my favorite pictures of Jonna and Hudson.
And you can see, that he was one lucky pup.

The Phoebe has returned to central Ohio . . .
Can Spring - truly - be just over the rise?
He sounds a little frazzled, but after this long winter - who isn't ?
And he sat pretty for me as I recorded his plumage & "song'.

A Few Smiles Beneath the Snow . .
March sunrise between a bunny's ears . . .

We Love Snow. Right?
A few more snows and the mail lady is gonna need a shovel.
I managed to capture a couple of these individual trouble makers. It really makes you appreciate what photographer Ivo Dinsbergs achieves with his photos.
The surfaces onto which these flakes fell:
A broom. A yard light. My glove.
The dearest little neighbor built me a couple snowmen when I complained that all this snow was going to waste.

You are feeling veeeerrrrrrryy sleepy . . . . .
I watched him nodding off up in the old silver maple snag. A frigid wind was ruffling the fur on his tail . . . but the returning sun felt good on his little squirrel back.

Birds of a Feather . . . Starlings
Starling
Ugly duckling,
Squawking box.
Through the winter
flecked with spots.
Dull and dissed,
until new sheen,
reflects the sun
of welcome Spring.
Polished that little ditty off in about 10 minutes. Then I googled "starling poems" to see if it'd already been done. Yup. Great contrast. Doggerel. Poetry.

Going to minus 11 tonight.
The birds are busy eating . .
and I'm busy keeping the feeders filled.
P.S. That last one is not a bird :)

Winter Birds - Through the Window
Wish I'd installed that birdbath heater a little earlier in the season. Wow!
