From My Heart - Thank you . . .

I left mother this afternoon. She is rallying and darling and frightened. Over the past few days I watched her as she fought her way back from death. Even as she grimaced in pain - her chutzpah - her engagement with life - her merriness - filled me with wonder. I am not my mother.

My sibs are thanking me for spending those nights beside her. Believe me when I say that I have no sense of filial obligation fulfilled - no sense of sacrifice - only gratitude, profound gratitude.

I am tired. I'm going to bed, but first had to thank you - my friends - for your caring, your thoughts, your prayers. Life is good. People are good. Our connections - matter.

Love,
Cathy

So good to hear from you with news that your mother is doing better. It sounds as though she's a survivor in every sense of the word. Yes, get some much needed rest. Best wishes for your mother's recovery. Take care, Bev

Thank you for letting us know the wonderful news. I am thrilled beyond measure to hear it. I have checked back often, hoping and praying to hear exactly that.

I have to say though, I do believe you are your mother in many ways. You are a truly wonderful person Cathy. Of that there can be no doubt.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Love,
Laurie

Blessings to you and your family. I hope she progresses without incident. When you love someone it is simply not a chore to care for them. We did for my late and beloved mother-in-law during her final illness and though we were tired and stressed and stretched beyond what we were used to I wouldn't trade the last months with her for anything in the world. She and I (being a hardheaded pair) had our problems over the years, but they were forgotten when she became ill. When a hospice worker couldn't understand what she was asking for and she called me to interpret...even though her own children were right there...I was touched very deeply. I treasure that memory.

Oh Cathy--this is good news. I pray she keeps rallying and stays with you some more time.
The moments spent bedside truly are grace filled. When my mother was in the hospital for 6 weeks, I visited her everyday. And now I think back on those days and am so GLAD I could do it.

Oh Cathy, it had been a while since I've visited here and I came expecting some delightful tidbit about life or another amazing nature photo, only to learn there are bigger things on your horizon. I'm glad your Mom is better and the time to let go is still off in the future. My thoughts are with you.
