I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December.
A magical thing
And sweet to remember.
"We are nearer to Spring
Than we were in September,”
I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December.

There is something special about a cardinal on a snowy day.One of the things to look forward to in the winter.thanks for the photo and the nice poem.
I like the simplicity of the I'm not a robot test (but I really am a robot-only my family knows).
I miss cardinals; it's always wonderful to see them against the snow.
That poem is a good one; don't think I'd seen it before. :)
I am so ready for nearer to spring. Worked on the garden, putting mulch on the garlic, yesterday and it felt so good.
Larry! My robot friend :) Thank you.
(For some reason that dang verification thing has shown up - unbidden. I've got to get rid of it)
Rev. Paul . . . So glad you enjoyed that poem as much as I. A friend pointed me to it a couple years ago and I'm forever grateful.
Marianne . . . :) Imagine being able to mulch this time of year. All good. Now if only winter tempers its gales and white stuff to our moods.
What a beautiful reminder of the lengthening days and the beauty of the season.
Jonna, I agree. The poet simply reports hearing a bird . . . and lifts our spirits along with his.
