They're Baaack. The 17 Year Periodic Cicada Brood V.

After 17 years they've just started to emerge in Loudonville Ohio.   I got to pet one :)   Now we're waiting for the real insanity of their noise.  Our son came from NH to experience this.   WHERE THEY'RE SHOWING UP IN OHIO

Your's is the general reaction to these bugs Marianne :) It'll be interesting to see how I hold up once they're buzzing me and driving us all crazy with their racket.

Ah, yes...I remember those fellows well. I experienced an eruption in the late '80's in Cincinnati. They were piled up several feet high on the side of the highway. Let me know when they're gone!

Hey Jonna :) We're happily anticipating the cacophony. May not be around for the next 17 year brood!

I heard 'em when we were in Missouri in April, but we sure don't miss 'em.

Hi Reverend Paul! I understand your sense of that. Our hatch wasn't that impressive - noise and number-wise - in central Ohio. Hope all is good with you and yours. It's been a little crazy on this end.
