Last Year's Smiles

Last summer I observed this duck feeding under the small waterfalls that drops between the upper and lower ponds at the local botanical gardens. I'd love to know what food it was finding. It must have been yummy as the duck repeatedly . . . uh - ducked under the water.
I think there's a message here. You may find what you need in places you and others might not have imagined. You may have to go through some turbulence to find it, but persistence pays off and when you come through it you'll be all sparkly from the effort of discovery.

Beautiful connection there, Cathy. Great photos, too. I hope you are doing well... I've been thinking of you, your husband, and family.

Mary - We're back from my mother-in-law's funeral - exhausted, yet so heartened - lifted - by the welcome from my husband's sister's and their large extended families and circle of friends. Painful history and life's exigences left these connections in need of renewal. Today was a beautiful beginning. I think Mom Wilson would be pleased.
Connections. Such a basic need. I do so appreciate your kind thoughts. Thanks, Mary.

Really beautiful Cathy.

You are in my thoughts and prayers dear lady.

Super photos of the duck. Perhaps it was feeding on aquatic insects swept along in the rushing water. I've watched fish do much the same in water that rushes through openings in beaver dams.
You're so right about connections. They make "getting by" a little easier.

Laurie - Thanks so much - I hope all is moving ahead smoothly with your concerns, too. I'll check your blog.

Bev! I was just writing a response to
your email about my snake ID and up popped your comment. I was hoping you'd have a thought about the duck's menu. Thanks so much.

When I first saw that top pic I thought it was a duck frozen in ice! Whew. :)

What great photos of the ducking duck.
And good for you, keeping your spirits up in the midst of life's passages.

We've got those kinds of bird too, but you've now added another delightful dimension to them. Life does teach good lessons.

Maybe it just wanted an extra-detailed bath?

Cute photos!

Smiles indeed. Sure made me smile this morning.

Those "high pressure" showers make one feel invigorated and super duper sparkly don't they? Sometimes they hurt, but oh the feeling afterwards. Worth it!

Great lesson painted with your words and pictures Cathy. Thank you.
