I Heard a Bird Sing . . .

I Heard a Bird Sing

I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December
A magical thing
And sweet to remember:
"We are nearer to Spring
Than we were in September,"
I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December.

OMG! I thought the titmouse was my favorite photo. But, no, the pair of finches! Then again, the junco who's been eating snow?! Maybe the ghostly jay? I want that series on a poster!! Fabulous photos, Sis. Your poetry in the previous post and the selection from whathisname in this one is lovely too.

Jen!

I'm blushing :-)

They are rather sweet, aren't they?
I think the little snow-eating junco ended up as my fav.

But like you - I kinda bounce around.

Thank you, so much.

Oooh, lovely! Especially that cardinal, the deep red against the white. I'm envious - birds always move too fast around here :)

Oh yes! Julie - the cardinal.
I'm glad your artist's eye found him striking :) Thank you.

He didn't hold that pose very long, but what an elegant pose it is.

Breathtakingly perfect! I see birds out in the snow and marvel at their perfect beauty, but to actually get photos like these! Just wow!

I agree, the picture of the finches is my favourite too, but they are all excellent. I saw a male Cardinal singing his heart out in a territorial spring song yesterday despite all the snow and the -20 temperature.

My wife quietly picked up her camera, sat by the living room window yesterday after yet another snowfall, and presto..... you are all treated to these beautiful pictures.

Very nice, honey.

Coming from you - who captures the day's beauty as it sifts around your comings and goings -
I thank you. It all came together for an hour or so. The gentle snow, the light, and our dear feathered friends.

Ruth.

Thank you so much. And yes! I, too, am hearing the cardinal's song.

Minus 20. Lordy. And I see you've managed to get out in some rather frigid temps to capture some incredible photos of buntings and that gorgeous rough-legged hawk!

Sweet Hubby.

Yeah. That about says it all.
Sweet Hubby :0)

It wasn't a robin, so it didn't say "Cheer up?"

What beautiful birds! We have lots of chickadees, starlings, and lately Red-Winged Black birds. We are closer to spring and boy am I ever ready.
