Winter Birds through the Window at 10 '

Going to minus 11 tonight.

The birds are busy eating . .
and I'm busy keeping the feeders filled.
P.S.  That last one is not a bird :)

The third picture, a Carolina Wren, my favorite bird. Love their songs....

Hot here today, high of 74. Weatherman says tomorrow to expect freezing rain. Go figure.

Stephen! You know your birds. I love the Carolina wren. It is the dearest little bird and his song is as sweet as he is.

Sadly ,the milder winters over the past couple decades in the midwest, allowed them to expand their range northward. I fear this return to real winters will drive them out of our neck of the woods.
Stay cozy tomorrow!

You had me at the cardinal in the first picture. We have precious few songbirds of any kind here this part of Alaska, and none at all in the winter.

Thank you for taking pity on me & posting such gorgeous shots.

Better and better every day...your photos I mean. I just love them. Our wrens are still around, and hopefully coming in for peanuts, although I hear, but don't see them.

Awww . . Rev. Paul . . You're welcome :)
I wasn't aware that Alaska had far fewer songbirds than we at 42' latitude. And tell you what . . if these frigid temps persist over the next years . . .

Thank you, Marianne! In this bitter, bitter weather I've got nuth'in else to do be sit her playing with these gadgets. And I do cheat. Put 'em in IPhoto and tweak and saturate and pat myself on the back:)

PS.
Marianne . . about those wrens. That little guy is going after anything in my No Mess seed that the other birds leave behind. He was hacking away at my nutty suet feeder too . . . The starlings kept bullying him though.

Love them all, but especially the Mourning Dove puddled up and fluffy!

Jonna! I agree about that poofed up mourning dove. So, so sweet . . and dozing off every few seconds. ( or maybe she was just trying to keep her eyeballs from freezing :)
