Happy Mother's Day!

Raising kids can be tough. They have their own agenda and sense of style (notice little Spike's hair-gelled statement). To all the women who've opened their hearts to kids and fur-kids - and worked and struggled and stayed up nights - and laughed and cried with pride when the child found wings and soared. Well done.
(Click on the photo and you'll see she's smiling and crying at the same time.)
Our great son sent me a beautiful hydrangea which will grace our new patio's shade bed. He is precious.

Smiles and tears at the same time! Yes, been there, done that! Tail feathers rumpled, teenage hair issues, swimming with the wrong crowd, and paddling two close to dangerous waters, but learning new strokes, teaching me different ways to preen my feathers and showing me that not all strange water is dangerous.

Smiles and tears, joy and sorrow - all wrapped up in our beautiful children.

Thank you for this wonderful post. Sending Happy Mother's Day wishes your way today too.

Cuppa - You are dear. I think you've summed it up very very well.

Cuppa did sum it up so well.

Cathy, you captured something in photos that says so much. Motherhood's trials and rewards. Check!

Happy Mother's Day and hugs to you!

Cathy--I love Spike! that's what I am calling the youngster with the spiky "hair."
Thanks for these thoughts.

How wonderful. My son sent me a text message at 12:01 am this morning. He told me "Happy Best Mother in the Universe Day, I love you most of all". I cried.

Patrice -
Thank you. I hope everyone noticed the droplets in mid-air beneath her chin.

Laurie -
Our kids - our joy.

Wonderfully pictured and said. Our children are our students and our teachers and it's quite a ride!

You've really captured the ethos of parenthood, Cathy! Best wishes to you and your dear family. BTW, hydrangeas are a very popular plant here in the Pacific Northwest, and their color depends on the acidity/alkaline of the soil. I once had one that was a lovely mauve one year and blue the next! The soil had changed.
