For Nancy

My e-friend Nancy just lost two of her fur-kids, Miss Molly and Big Guy, after long struggles with illness. This picture of gentle departure seems so right. Today my heart goes out to all who love the four-legged little souls who come into our lives, our care - our hearts. Chances are that when we choose to give our hearts like so many of us do - that we will suffer the pain of loss. In these relationships we discover - we become, the best that we may be. This is what we do - love, suffer and love again. Nancy creates a delightful potpourri she sends to subscribers called "Friday's Journal" at her website The Past Whispers.

Beautiful photo. Beautiful thoughts. Heart hugs are one their way to Nancy from this corner of the country.

Beautiful - thanks for the link.

It's a small painful truth that losing pets is part of loving them.

Oh, my. The grief - for Nancy. Thanks for the link on "Friday's Journal" as I have never seen more stunning photography.

Losing a pet leaves a permanent scar in our hearts, for sure.

I saw your sad comment on Pure Florida and wanted to drop by and cheer you up. Bad timing on my part because your post made me cry. I loved your wording about people who have pets and what it means in our life to have them.

I have a very old dog and I know our time together is limited. My heart will break as it always does when I have to part with a pet. The up side is that I know there is another little dog out there in the local shelter who will need me some day just as bad as I'll need him or her. It all balances out but there are tears in there too.

Grief is the price of loving our animals. As hard as it is , it always feels like "good" grief in the sense that it's pure and simple and not all a tangle of feelings. We just love them and they love us in the ways that they do.
