Phoenix Bontanical Garden

AnvilCloud was asking if we'd been to the Phoenix Botanical Garden, yet. We just got back. These pictures are for you AC. The artist Patrick Dougherty created the whimsical willow balls. We thought they were so wonderful and then we stepped inside! Just across the walkway, my friend Jonna, spotted the cactus wren nest which is a small version of the willow balls.See the little hole where he enters? We looked at the willow sculptures and then at the wren nest. We were enchanted.

Cathy! Those nests are amazing to me. I'm looking at a different world, for goodness sakes. I can't remember the last time I saw a photo of cactus. Simply...great!

You must be having a fabulous time. I hope there's some comfortable bonding going on with the traveling mates :o)

Don't you just love the spiny sparkle, cactus colors and strong architecture of the agaves and cacti? I'd fill my garden with them if it weren't for the hazards to the kids and critters. Great pics!

I'm so excited to see these posts- we're headed off to Phoenix the first week in April! I've never been to the desert before and can't wait. My daughter and I were just looking at the Phoenix Botanical Garden website this morning!!

Any sight seeing advice would be greatly appreciated!! :)

We were there near sunset just over a year ago, and it was quite magical. Some pics in this set since you don't have anything to do down there. hahaha

Lynne - You are going to love the desert. We've not done that much sightseeing because my husband is at a conference here. The Botanical Garden is a 'must see'. We're headed for Sedona tomorrow. I guess the trip up is beautiful and the town is interesting.
Just for browsing - Main Street in Scottsdale has many art galleries. You're sure to have a wonderful time. They'll be more bird migrants in April and the song will be lovely. Don't forget to look up at night :0) Stars!

The botanical garden is one of our favourite places when in the Phoenix area. Boyce-Thompson Arboretum near Superior is also wonderful.
